John Deere's "Fundamentals of Service" guide for FRP repair December 21, 1997 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
One in a series of manuals by the John Deere Company (the lawnmower/tractor manufacturers). The manual is "...indended to be used as a guideline to show the basic handling techniques of fiberglass." Broken down into four parts (The Nature of Fiberglass; Materials, Tools, and Saftey Requirements; Repairing Cosmetic Damage; Repairing Structural Damage) the manual walks the beginner through each step in the repair of damage to fiberglass structures (in the examples: a riding lawnmower engine cowl). Each repair step contains the following subsections: definition of damage, saftey requirements, tools and materials required, preparatory steps, and the repair procedures. Graphics are provided for each of the major stages of a repair. If you are looking for in-depth analysis of fiberglass (as I was) this is not the book. But if you are looking to save some money and don't mind doing some home repair, the manual may well be worth the money. Total length of the manual: 32 pages.
