5 out of 5 stars Wish I could give it more stars!   September 2, 2007

This is an exceptionally well-thought-out and well-put-together book. The inspiration behind the projects and gallery photos comes through very strongly, yet the step-by-step inspires real creativity. This book has helped me out a real creative slump. Thanks Laurie!!

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Resource chock full of technqiues   July 28, 2007
I bought this book as I was looking for a new direction to take my art and this book has inspired me to get out the polymer clay again.

It is full of techniques, lucious step by step photographs, designs and projects... couldn't ask for anything better. I can also see a lot of ways it could be incorporated into altered art.

Best book I have bought in ages and is going to become very dog eared.

This is a wonderful book for people of all ages and backgrounds. Polymer artisits will have a lot of fun gaining inspiration or completing one of the many projects contained in this publication. Laurie starts out with a clear outline of how to make the tiles, both in Polymer and glass cutting, tools required etc. She broadens your scope by wonderful step by step instructions on how to add glamour - trying paints, micas, gilding, stamps,Image transfers, beads and so forth. Each project from Boxes and Tables throught to Pendants and Pins - each tackles a new technique and the excellent photos make it almost impossible to make a mistake. A small but rich gallery of her work which is a veritable explosion of colour complete this worthwhile addition to your library shelf.

I took a class from the author several years ago and was hooked on this style of art! So I was extremely happy to see that a book came out. The instructions are very clear and there are lots of pictures for inspiration. I highly recommend it even if you have never worked with polymer clay.

The book gives clear directions on how to make innovative mosaics using non-traditional mosaic materials. I've been doing ceramics for 30 years and was a bit reluctant to try this. I was amazed at how much fun it is and how well my first project turned out...which is a testament to Mika's instruction and inspiration. It's a great book and all my friends will be getting mosaics for their birthdays and other special occasions.
