5 out of 5 stars Beautiful Book   February 20, 2003

Wow!This is a terrific book. I've been watching Lisa on the Carol Duval show for a long time now and love her work! I was wondering when she'd have her own book when I saw she had one on Carol's Holiday Live Special last November. I was dissappointed I had to wait so long to get it, but it was worth the wait! I think the projects are especially clever. I can't wait for the holidays to make gifts for all my family and friends from the book. Lisa's instructions are so clear and easy to understand. I usually learn best from watching someone do something on television or video and have been dissapointed in other books that I found hard to follow. So far, I've done the beaded photo box, the heart locket and the way cool flower pen and stand, and have been thrilled with how well the projects came out.

5 out of 5 stars Very happy with my purchase of this book!   February 20, 2003

I have to say how pleased I am with this book. I consider myself to be somewhere beyond beginner, but not exactly intermediate in my skill level with polymer clay. Lots of the books available are either too cutsey for my taste or overloaded with to much technical information. Some of the books are downright intimmidating or just have more information than I need to know. I'd rather see lots of projects like this book has. There is a wide variety of projects and styles. I like that some of the designs have a contemporary look-like-the pen holder, some are classic-like the garden stakes and others are fun and funky-like the flower pen and wire stand. I like that most of the projects are not merely decorative, but also functional. I'm impressed with the quality of the photos. I also noticed that the author doesn't leave anything to question. A lot of the other books I have purchased skip over many details assumming everyone who works with clay knows what to do. For those with more skill and experience it's easy to skip over those details, but I find so many books lack some of the little details that not all of us take for granted. I'd recommend this book to anyone, even more advanced clayers. There are lots of tips in the book that I've been sharing with some of my more experienced friends, that even they hadn't thought of. I also like how the book uses lots of other materials are used in the projects like rubber stamps and wire. I've had so many things sitting around my craft room that I bought because they looked good at the time I was in the store, but never really knew what to do with them. Now I have some great uses for all that stuff an no longer feel guilty for buying it.

5 out of 5 stars Captivating and Inspiring!   February 18, 2003
This book is just lovely. The projects are well designed, and the instructions are clear enough for anyone to follow. From arty and sophisticated to cute and fun, Lisa's book covers it all. I have all kinds of ideas for gifts to make now.

2 out of 5 stars A Polymer Clay Non-Extravaganza   February 17, 2003

I was excited to order this new book on polymer clay, but that enthusiasm waned upon glancing at the projects once the book was received. For the most part the projects were juvenille and some actually looked dough-ey upon completion. This was not the quality or level of sophistication I was looking for in a polymer clay book.

A Definite "Must Have" For Any Polymer Clay Library
I just got a copy of "Polymer Clay Etravaganza" and I am so impressed! What a quality book. I have been disappointed with some polymer clay books because of poor finish quality of the projects, uninspiring designs and substandard photography. But this book has it all together - you won"t find fingerprints in the clay or unfinished edges here! Thank you Lisa for respecting your readers enough to finish ALL of your projects well, even the simplest ones. And what a great range of projects there are. With the terrific instructions many of them are basic enough for beginners. Yet the innovative designs will spark the imagination of much more experienced PCers. This is an awesome book! I can't wait to go try it out.
