1000 Glass Beads: Innovation & Imagination In Contemporary Glass Beadmaking provides an introduction by Cathy Finegan and over 400 pages of detail on glass bead works of art, from jewelry to sculptures and functional projects. 5 out of 5 stars Inspiration on each page   March 4, 2005

If you're looking for a how-to manual, keep looking. But if you're looking for a book with beautiful photographs of glass beads, you're in the right place. Each page contains photographs of beads by talented glass artisans. What's especially nice about this book is that there are artists represented from many different skill levels. For an intermediate glass artist like me, it's good to see that I've come a long way, but there is still so much territory to explore. The photographs in this book catalog this evolution exquisitely.

It's inspirational and almost overwhelming to see so many gorgeous beads together. It will provide me with inspiration for a long time.

I would recommend this book for artists and collectors alike.

This book is a joy to gaze at. It is beautiful and elegant. The color photography is outstanding. Don't buy this book if you are looking for flamework instructions. But the images will stir your creative juices. I bought this book twice, one for my glass teacher and one for me!

5 out of 5 stars An awesome book!   November 11, 2004

Wow, what an amazing book! Whether you love glass beads and lampwork or you just love beautiful art, I believe you will be thrilled with this book. This book is definitely not a 'how to' book for those who want to make beads, but it is sure to inspire you beyond your imagination. There are over 400 pages in this book with very little text, however each page contains one or two, large, full color, highly detailed photos with a caption giving you the name of the artist and a very brief description of their technique. There are hundreds of different artists featured in the book with just as many different styles.... and these are not merely 'glass beads', these are absolute works of art which left me in awe every time I turned the page. (By the way, the price of the book definitely belies the quality, I honestly was not expecting such a high caliber book for this price.)
