I love this book! I'm going to order her other 2 as soon as I finish this review. I may also order a second copy as I can see mine getting quite beat up over time and I want to enjoy this for a looong time. Not only is this book a good guide for making the featured figures, its fun to read! Plus she shows many good techniques that one can use in their own sculpting practice. I love how many different decorating options she shows. She walks you thru one focal sculpture, then shows what different colors, beads, and finishing styles end up looking like. I love a clay book that encourages and inspires you to put your own touches on your work. I have never added beads to my own work, but I love the way christi uses them along with swirls and spots of clay, and anchored with wires. I have definetly been inspired by this book and only wish it was bigger! Its a great price for what you get tho.

5 out of 5 stars I must go down to the sea again...   November 29, 2006

And again! Christi's new book is amazing! I have been waiting for this one for a long time. I love the ocean and spent many years working as an oceanographic tech and doing scuba diving and underwater photography, and this book just makes me so excited. Christi has made it so easy and fun to make all kinds of critters that I used to enjoy so much. Once again her sense of humor just takes you along on a wild, excited learning experience and in no time you will be making turtles, fish, starfish, sea horses and even octapi! Its a real treat!

5 out of 5 stars darling it's better down where it's wetter . . .   November 28, 2006

well we all know i'm biased, i love christi's work but in this book she really outdoes herself ! there are so many beautiful pictures - it takes at least three goings through before you are calm enough to actually read it. (and those of you who have her first two books know they are as comedic as they are instructive.)in this issue she gives lots of little tips on how to make your own tools. now really, what other artist is so generous with all the 'behind the scenes' goings-on of their work ? to anyone even a little interseted in polymer clay i say : give her series a try, you won't regret it. she doesn't just give you ideas, she helps you make your ideas a reality. my only suggestion to a newbie is to get the 'dragon' book first as this one (under the sea) does involve more free-form color blending that might intimidate someone who is not comfortable working with polymer clay yet. (though there are plenty of figures you can make without worrying about the awe-inspiring backdrop of an ocean blue ... and green ... and teal ... and turquise... and ... well you get the point.)
