5 out of 5 stars Stunning!   January 6, 2008

Khalili is amazing - these houses not only combine very low and very high tech, but they are gorgeous and completely responsible. I'll be attending one of his workshops this summer, and hope to soon build my own. As for earthquakes? Well, testing in the highest earthquake zone in the US, #4, the Hesperia, CA building department worked with Khalili, and licensed California structural and seismic engineers to attach equipment to a wall to see how much shaking it could take. They cranked the equipment up to twice the agreed on success level, then had to stop the test because the test equipment was falling apart! The wall was still fine....
so lets see, fireproof, termite proof, earthquake /tornado/hurricane resistant, and made out of the materials under foot... No processed steel, wood or chemicals, no off-gassing; What's not to like?
The only folks that wouldn't like these beauties are those suppling materials to the construction industry.

These aren't eccentric mud huts. These gorgeous, soul-lifting domes have a classic peacefulness that inspires.

Khalili is a genius.
