From the supplier: Cermet technology is improving materials needed for heavier depths of cut in semi-finish and finish turning as well as finish milling applications. Near-net shape components are ideal to cermet technology because they require only finishing or semifinishing. Cermet toughness almost matches the C6 grade carbide after improvement efforts over the past few years. Variations in ingredients including titanium nitride, carbonitride and a binder material has made substrate composition ideal.
