Ceramic materials that are specially developed for use as medical and dental implants are termed bioceramics. This book is disjointed and research oriented, more like the proceedings of a conference than a text book. It also has a very biased feel and is somewhat of an advertisement for the editors' invention, Bioglass(R). My resources would have been better spent conducting a thorough search of the technical journal literature.
